About the scheme

The SEAI grant provides €600 for a battery system of at least 5 kWh. Smaller batteries do not qualify. Battery storage lets you keep electricity for use later.

Who can apply?

Homeowners, private landlords, owner management companies and approved housing bodies. The property must have an MPRN, have been built and occupied before 2025, and must not have received a previous battery grant at that MPRN.

Before you start

Receive your SEAI Grant Offer before installation begins. Use an SEAI-registered Solar PV Contractor and equipment that meets the scheme’s technical requirements. A post-works BER is required where solar PV is present.

Battery and solar PV

Installing both together? Apply for both measures in one application. If you already have a solar PV application, leave it unchanged and submit a separate battery application before work starts. You can apply for the other measure later, subject to eligibility at that time.
